A bill to license Board Certified Behavior Analysts has been introduced in the New York Legislature by Senator John Flanagan of the Second Senate District on Long Island and Assemblyman Joseph Morelle of Assembly District 132 in the Rochester/Western New York region. The Bills are S7017 and A10064: “AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to providing for the licensure of behavior analysts.” Although Board Certified Behavior Analysts are specifically identified in the autism insurance reform law signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo in late 2011. However, without licensure of behavior analysts-which would be provided by this separate bill–families will continue to have difficulty accessing qualified providers of these behavioral health services.Your help in spreading the word and taking the following the steps is urgently needed TODAY and every day until we have licensure for Behavior Analysts in New York State.

Here’s what you need to know. Thank you in advance for your efforts!

(Read the Bill) This Bill this bill will ensure that those who need applied behavior analysis treatment have increased access to qualified professionals with the safeguards provided by a state license. We urge you to contact your State Senator and ask them to support and co-sponsor S7017 and A10064.
